چکیده

There always have been patterns where there have been designs. Figure 1 shows both very famous, aesthetically beautiful, but perfectly different two statues that are known as treasures of the world. The statue of David, for example, gives us sharp, or even likely, European impression while the statue of Basara gives us centripetal, oriental impression. Figure 2. Celica (Toyota, Japan) and F355 Berlinetta (Ferrari, Italy).

Simulated Designer’s Eyes — Classification of Aesthetic Surfaces —

This paper aims to figure out difference of our impressions on curves that are used in shape designs, and also contribute industrial designers by implementing a smart computer aided design (CAD) systems which have as same feelings on curves as human designer’s. The proposed K-Vector is a mathematical form of classifying such curves by designer’s impressions.

A Free Form Feature Taxonomy

In this paper the notion of free form feature for aesthetic design is presented. The design of industrial products constituted by free form surfaces is done by using CAD systems representing curves and surfaces by means of NURBS functions, which are usually defined by low level entities that are not intuitive and require some knowledge of the mathematical language. Similarly to the feature-base...

Variational Formulation of the Log-Aesthetic Surface and Development of Discrete Surface Filters

The log-aesthetic curves include the logarithmic (equiangular) spiral, clothoid, and involute curves. Although most of them are expressed only by an integral form of the tangent vector, it is possible to interactively generate and deform them and they are expected to be utilized for practical use of industrial and graphical design. The discrete log-aesthetic filter based on the formulation of t...

Quasi-Aesthetic Curves in Rational Cubic Bézier Forms

Designing aesthetically appealing models is vital for the marketing success of industrial products. In this paper, we propose quasi-Aesthetic Curves that can be used in CAD systems for aesthetic shape design. Quasi-Aesthetic Curves represented in rational cubic Bézier Forms are curves whose logarithmic curvature histograms (LCHs) become nearly straight lines. The monotonicity of curvature of qu...

A General Equation of Aesthetic Curves and Its Self-Affinity

The curve is the most basic design element to determine shapes and silhouettes of industrial products and works for shape designers and it is inevitable for them to make it aesthetic and attractive to improve the total quality of the shape design. If we can find an equation of aesthetic curves, it is expected that the quality of the curve design improves drastically because we can use it as a s...
